PROPOSAL FOR CHILDREN’S PRESIDENCY
JMCM is completely child oriented, therefore everything we are doing is intended to benefit the child/children in the community. We desire to encourage and motivate children into early childhood Christian leadership. This is why we have several interesting activities for children in different primary schools and also children community centres.

We are in the process of introducing children’s president, vice president and ministers (peer group). Children’s presidency will run for 1 year only and thereafter election. We intend to get children participants from every district in Uganda.

We intend to communicate to all the children through news papers, FM Radio stations and TV stations. The interested children shall apply and then campaigns shall be organised. There after elections shall be held in a ceremonious way.

The set qualifying standard shall be:- good behaviour, good speaker, smart both academically/physically and hard working. We believe that this will motivate, encourage, challenge and inspire the children into early childhood Christian leadership at a tender age.

All information given by the children shall be investigated and proved to be correct.

We shall have panel of judges.

We shall have gifts for all participants.

We shall keep all doors open for people gifted with ability to work with children or organizations to come in and sponsor or partner with JMCM.
Enabling street children orphans and vulnerable children to realize their potential and discover their worth.

WHEN YOU HAVE RUN TO THE STREET….

IS THAT THE END OF THE ROAD?

Children run to the harsh realities of street life for all kinds of reasons – family break down, violence, abuse, poverty, illness and the loss of relatives to HIV/Aids and other diseases.

Sulaiman, Ibra , Kagium and Alexander were all forced out of their homes because of family break down and loss of relatives and ended up on Kampala Streets.

JMCM was able to reach out to them and JMCM is now caring for them.

COUNSELLING AND PREPARATION

JMCM is designed to prepare a child for life in the Community.

Social workers enable children to come to terms with their past experiences through post – trauma counseling and they provide guidance and preparation for the future.

FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE

Once a child has been be-friended by staff, a process begins that revolves around the shelter , Is a safe place away from dangers off the street or harsh conditions located in the out scads of Kampala . Here children can.

REST…… Without fear of being chased away, picked up or beaten. They can sleep, talk, with staff, or play games.

EAT…… especially if they have been to training or lesson. Everyday any homeless child can enjoy a simple but wholesome meal.

RECOVER….. From wounds and sicknesses that are an everyday part especially of street life. Jesus and Me CM offers them Medical as well.

PLAY…… as the football club, music dance and drama, writers, readers and bible club is open to all.

FIND A HOME…… for those wanting to go to main stream school or acquire Vocational skills. JMCM runs a home for children. They can stay in the home and go to school.

Jesus and Me Children’s Ministries is based in Kampala Uganda, East Africa is a Professionally run Christian social work and development organization caring for orphans, vulnerable and street children and youths from 0-12 years and graduate when they are 22 years.

THE JESUS AND ME CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES APPROACH IS…….

Relational- The Jesus and Me Ministries team gets to know boys and girls living on the street and community through sports and other activities programmes. Staff finds out what each boy/girl’s hopes and dreams are, For street boys they find out why they ran to the street and what they want to do next. Trained social workers help the boys especially from the streets to come to terms with the trauma they have experienced so they can move on and achieve their goals.

Holistic- taking into account all aspects of a child’s development- education, physical, medical, social and cultural.

THE JESUS AND ME CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES grew out of the special children singing group set up in 1998. It became a Ugandan registered NGO in 2003.

GOAL ! GOAL! GOAL!
The goal for each child is the same – reintegration into community and into a safe and loving environment in which to realize their potential and discover their worth. Jesus and me Children’s Ministries project believes that each child is a unique individual and that the family is the best environment for development. The core values form the basis for three different options for social reintegration available to Jesus and Me Ministries boys and girls:-

RESETTLEMENT…… Through which children are reunited and reconciled with their parents and other relatives .This is along and difficult process but worth the effort. It involves practical and emotional support offered to the family.

FOSTER CARE…. Especially for children under 12 years who can not be resettled with their own family. The informal foster care scheme ensures that each foster family is carefully selected and prepared and then offers support and individual and group training to enable each child to become part of the family.

INDEPENDENT LIVING…. Is the long term goal of Jesus and me Children’s Ministries Project Programme as boys and girls use their education and training to find employment and set up homes of their own? JMCM aims to break the cycle of abuse through essential life skills and HIV/AIDS prevention training.
